I’m guessing most folks who go to the Pines have heard of the blaze that consumed The Pavilion a few weeks ago. I found out on a television news broadcast the very next day, but was at a loss for words. I know this blog has been neglected this past summer (I was out of the country for its entirety), but I do intend to return to the Pines and revive Pineslore.com in the coming season.
I will keep you updated on the developments on the Pines’ social hub, dear readers.
Thanks and best regards,
M.J.

The Triumvirate are promoting themed “go-to” weekends at Fire Island Pines, now that the summer season is winding down:
Summer Is Forever Weekend (dance and break a good sweat!) - September 17-19
Indulgence Weekend (stuff yourself with food and whatever else you might want) - September 24-26
and last but not least,
Serenity Weekend (yoga and sunset watching) - October 1-3
…Will you be in attendance?

Michael K. Lavers of The Fire Island News reports:
Fire Island Ferries will suspend service from Bay Shore at 3 p.m. tomorrow. It said ferries would resume early on Saturday, Sept. 4, once conditions improve. The Sayville Ferry Company told theNews the 7 and 8 p.m. ferries to the Fire Island Pines tomorrow night are cancelled. Ferries to Cherry Grove remain unaffected as of this posting.
We hope all the communities on Fire Island remain safe as Earl comes through!
Not only did GayCities declare Fire Island Pines as one of their picks for Top Ten Gay Beaches in the World, GayCities members also gave the Pines their seal of approval by voting it into GayCities Members’ Picks: Top 10 Favorite Gay Beaches List! Pines queens everywhere, rejoice! BTW, which of the other beaches on the list have you guys been to?
Remember these queens (pictured below)?

No? They’re the ones in the now infamous Party in the FIP YouTube video.
It seems that they are trying to parlay their newfound popularity into other endeavors. They want to write (and hopefully sell) a Fire Island Pines cookbook!
Le Fag reports:
The Junior League of the Fire Island Pines or whatever is coming out with a cookbook next year, called The Fire Island Cookbook, according to Publishers’ Marketplace. What does this mean, you ask? Is it all just smoothies and menus consisting of pills, chamomile enemas, and Tab? We have no idea. But we can tell you one thing, it better not involve semen.
Let’s hope it doesn’t end up in gay bookstores and dollar bins. It just wouldn’t be worth the effort for a few thousand bucks, which is what they’ll get paid if it fails to cross over to a wider audience. That’s chump change for the upper echelon of the Pines!
